Installation Instructions for DL & MTL Alien Coils
Use Ceramic Tweezers: Always handle your coils with ceramic tweezers to avoid shorts during setup or pulsing.
Positioning: Mount coils close to the airflow and deck, with short legs for maximum conductivity and vapor efficiency.
Pre-Firing & Hotspot Removal:
- Start at 10-15W for MTL or 25-30W for DL coils.
- Gradually increase in 10-15W increments until coils glow evenly (max 70-80W dry - for most coils).
- Gently strum or compress with ceramic tweezers between pulses to fix hotspots.
Final Conditioning (DL Only):
- Optional: A brief pulse at 85-90W after even glow can simulate load stress and prep the coil.
- Do NOT glow coils red hot - orange is the max.
Secure Screws: Re-tighten post screws after pulsing to account for thermal expansion.
Cooling Time: Allow coils to cool for at least 30 seconds before wicking.
Wicking:
- Use premium cotton. It should pass through with slight resistance - snug, not choked.
- Comb the ends and trim for your specific tank or RDA.
Final Wattage:
- Once wicked, start low and adjust gradually.
- Example: 16-22W for MTL, 70-85W for DL depending on your build and preference.
Maintenance Instructions for DL & MTL Alien Coils
Remove Cotton First: Always take out the wick before dry firing or cleaning.
Low-Wattage Cleaning Pulse:
- Fire at 10-15W for MTL, 30-40W for DL to remove surface residue.
- Use short 0.5 sec pulses - never hold the fire button.
Brush Gently:
- While warm (not hot), brush with a soft plastic or ceramic tool.
- Avoid metal brushes - they damage wrap integrity.
Optional Rinse:
- Rinse with warm distilled water. For deeper cleaning, use an ultrasonic cleaner.
- Dry with paper towel and pulse again briefly to remove moisture.
Rewick Properly:
- Once coils are dry and cool, rewick with clean premium cotton.
- Never reuse burnt or gunked cotton - it shortens coil life.
